Wasp and bee control in Tampa Bay
Paper wasps, yellow jackets, carpenter bees, and honey bee hives need different plans. Some should be left to a beekeeper. Emergency Pest Control inspects first. Call 813-933-1911.
Stinging insects we see
Do not treat a nest with a flashlight at night and do not guess Africanized versus European honey bees. If you are unsure, call us.
Paper Wasp
1/2 to 1 inch. Open paper nests under eaves and furniture. Can sting more than once.
Yellow Jacket
Up to 5/8 inch. Large colonies in attics or in the ground. Highly defensive and can chase.
Hornet nest
Paper carton nests in trees and shrubs. Treat only when the colony is inactive, or call a pro.
Carpenter Bee
About 1 inch. Tunnels in wood to lay eggs. Shiny abdomen compared with bumble bees.
Bumble Bee
About 3/4 inch. Fuzzy. Nests underground. Stings in self-defense.
European Honey Bee
About 1/2 inch. Important pollinator. Call a beekeeper when relocation is possible.
Africanized Honey Bee
Looks like the European honey bee. More defensive. Leave the nest and get professional help.
Mud Dauber
Mud tubes stocked with spiders. Usually not aggressive unless provoked.
