Occasional invaders in Tampa Bay homes
Crickets, earwigs, millipedes, and silverfish live outside and move in during rain or when they find paper and starch. Emergency Pest Control treats the perimeter and the harborage. Call 813-933-1911.
Invaders we treat
Most of these pests do not want to live indoors. The fix is usually exclusion, moisture control, and a proper exterior treatment.
Crickets
About 1 inch. Common outside. Come through doors and garages.
European Earwig
Up to 1.25 inches. Lives in mulch. Moves inside during heavy rain.
Millipedes
About 1 inch, many legs. Enter through wet crevices and often curl up and die inside.
Silverfish
Over 1 inch. Feeds on starch and paper. Common around stored boxes.
Firebrat
About 1 inch. Related to silverfish. Found with stored paper and near heat or moisture.
Golden Raintree Bug
Boxelder relative. Can appear by the thousands near golden rain trees and elms. Mostly a nuisance.
